Magical Vauntastic

Shooting with Nicole is a blast. For my second shoot with this beautiful lady, I chose a magical theme as we both have an interest in the fantastical. We picked a late afternoon shoot time to take advantage of backlighting from the sun for the outfits and the foliage behind the model. I had several concepts in mind that needed that style of lighting and the timing worked great for those shots.

Nicole had perfect makeup and hair for the shoot because we collaborated on the planning and I shared examples of what I wanted to shoot with her well ahead of the shoot. She's a very experienced and versatile model, so I expected no less. The property where we were shooting worked well for the concepts too, and we took full advantage of the backgrounds it provided.

Nicole suggested several ideas we incorporated into the shoot. I love it when models give me suggestions and make the shoot a collaborative, rather than a directive process. Also, shooting with Nicole is just plain fun.

Lucy from Australia via New Zealand

Lucy hails from Australia, but lives in New Zealand and travels widely. I was fortunate to shoot with her this year after her expedition with Exploregon, a semi-annual photographic excursion led by my friends Floofie and Jordan. Lucy had just finished the late summer expedition to the Oregon coast and had time to shoot with me before leaving for other areas on the West Coast. I had planned to join the coastal shoot, but my left knee simply wouldn't let me do the hiking required for the adventures planned.

My knee, however, didn't give me any issues in the studio as long as I had a chair or stool that allowed me to occasionally sit. Floofie was kind enough to rent me her studio and I opted to shoot Lucy in a fine art style with various chain jewelry for ornament.

I used a combination of window light from the double doors of the studio balanced with light from two Newwer LED panels. Near the end of the shoot, I changed the color temperature of the panels for a warmer effect.

Lucy is a lovely and charismatic model. We listened to her music and chatted during the entire shoot and we achieved some lovely results from our session. I look forward to shooting with her again should she come back this way.

Bikini Babe Jade

For my fourth shoot with Jade, I decided we'd do a bikini pinup series. I chose a spot on the Columbia River that had plenty of big driftwood logs so we'd have a variety of options for Jade to pose on. The location also included some vegetation to provide background interest for the shots as well.

I had a large selection of bikinis for Jade to use. We spent about three hours shooting all along the beach and wooded areas of our chosen spot and Jade seemed to have a great time modeling all the different bikinis. She told me later, after viewing some of the photos I sent to her, that the pictures were surprisingly good. I thought so too, and let her know it was the great collaboration that produced such fine results.

Fifty Shoots of Floofie

Floofie and I completed our 50th photoshoot together this morning. Shot in her backyard and studio, we had a fun session with a mixture of boudoir, barefoot glamour, and celebratory cake. Rather than bore you with a bunch of words, I'll let the photos speak for me.

The End

Thursday, August 1, 2024

Yesterday I had the pleasure of shooting with Verronica Kirei after a five-year delay. We last shot together a few months before the pandemic shutdown. Verronica has helped me with several of my new projects while we were routinely shooting. She has modeled for my Sword & Chains, Military Pinup, Light Painting, and Barefoot Glamour projects and several others. For our first shoot, way back in December of 2011, she modeled for my Xmas Pinup series and has been a reliable model for any project I've requested.

For this latest shoot, I used her for my Goddess project. We shot several variations of the theme. We started in the early morning to beat the heat and to use the morning cloud cover for softer light. We timed it well because we finished our shoot just as the clouds started to part. The heat waves this summer have made early morning shoots a requirement. By late morning the temperatures make it uncomfortable to shoot and the sand on the beach gets almost too hot to bear.

The spot I chose for the shoot had several large driftwood logs and Verronica made use of them for many of her poses. The logs and the many small trees and bushes provided excellent backdrops for the images and when the cloud cover started to break up we had some interesting skies to add to the scene.

I hope to shoot with Verronica again before the end of the year. I'll probably use her for a boudoir shoot or perhaps a Halloween-themed shoot, since that's one of the few projects she hasn't yet modeled. Whichever I choose, I know I'll get some great images with her.
