Fifty Shoots of Floofie

Floofie and I completed our 50th photoshoot together this morning. Shot in her backyard and studio, we had a fun session with a mixture of boudoir, barefoot glamour, and celebratory cake. Rather than bore you with a bunch of words, I'll let the photos speak for me.

I haven't worked with Jade since the end of summer last year. I had hoped to use her as one of the models for my 2023 Xmas pinups, but unfortunately, she wasn't available. Earlier this spring, though, she sent me a message telling me she was interested in shooting with me again. It took a bit of planning, but we shot an erotic boudoir set yesterday evening.

We used Floofie's studio for the shoot. Jade lives nearby, and the studio had just the props I wanted to use for the shoot. I arrived about an hour before the shoot to prep the scene and set up the lighting.

For this shoot, I decided to use Neewer LED panels for the light. Although the panels don't produce as much light as studio strobes, I used a fast lens for the shoot with image stabilization in both the lens, a Canon 24-105 f/2.8L, and in the camera body, a Canon R5. This setup allowed me to easily visualize the lighting effects.

Jade arrived exactly on time and was ready to start within a couple of minutes. I had all the outfits ready to go and in the sequence, I wanted to shoot. Once we started, the shoot proceeded quickly as Jade smoothly progressed through her poses and outfit. She had obviously been practicing her poses and expression since we last shot. I loved her pinup poses and she nailed the expressions I requested. We had a great shoot and I'm looking forward to our next one.

It's Isabel Again

Luckily, I was able to work with Isabel again much sooner that I expected. Additionally, we were able to shoot in a new location that I had found on Peerspace, a house specifically set up for content shooting. As a bonus, the location was only about 2 miles from where I live. The house was quite well decorated with nice furniture and with different themes in the various rooms

It was a cool, wet day when we shot, so we weren't able to take advantage of the back deck and the lovely back yard, but we were able to shoot in all of the interior rooms, including the kitchen. The location came with optional props that could be rented, but I simply brought lingerie and my own lighting to use for the model. 

Again, Isabel turned out to be a great choice for this boudoir set of images. She provide elegant poses that brought a classy, but sexy appeal to the images. She was right on time for the shoot with hair and makeup ready, and we were able to get to work quickly.  Due to the overcast skies, the light from the large windows throughout the house provided a soft and even illumination to the images, helped by a small bit of fill flash to control the shadows.

The rooms were styled with different themes and colors, so it was easy to get several different looks for the images. The rental fee was reasonable and the location was perfect for me. I met with the owner a week before I scheduled the shoot for a detailed tour of the house and the available props. Access was easy with private parking and plenty of room to stage the costumes as props. 

As you can see from the image, the shoot went well and Isabel was a delight to shoot. As much as I prefer outdoor shoots, I'll definitely use this location again in the future.

Come November

 Only two shoots in November as the weather was rapidly turning cool and wet. We removed and stored the outdoor decor, stacked the chairs and tables, covered the grill and smoked, and brought in the cushions and umbrellas. The cool, wet weather and dying blooms meant backyard boudoir and outdoor shoots elsewhere simply weren't feasible. Also, winter is when  I break (mostly) from shooting and begin editing my images for the year. I thought the two shoots I planned were quite successful, so it was a good month regardless of the number of photo shoots.

The first shoot was part of my "On Black" project. Shawna enjoyed wearing the custom chains during our Sauvie  Island shoot in October, so I decided to use her for this project as well. The "On Black" project is simply the model posed in various positions against a pure black background and on an elevated platform. I light the model with either strobes or LED panels, as I did with Merrique. For Shawna's shoot, I used a diffused beauty dish for the key light and a large umbrella for fill. 

The outfits for the shoot were simply different chainmaille outfits but we did through a set of pearls into the mix. For the next "On Black" shoot, though, I'm going to add a gridded strobe and a backlight/hairlight to provide some rim light and separation between the model and the backdrop.

November's second and final shoot involved a traveling model making her way down the West Coast. Copper is a petite model with short red hair and a sparking personality, despite her lack of coffee which I quickly remedied with a fresh pot. We spent an enjoyable couple of hours shooting boudoir around my living room studio area. As it was a rare sunny day for the time of year, I opened all the blinds and curtains to let in as much sunlight as possible. I then used a bounced fill flash with a  reflector card to provide fill and to create a specular highlight in the eyes. That small spark of light makes the eyes sparkle with liveliness.

I have a couple of Xmas pinups scheduled for next month. I try to do at least one or two every year. They're always fun to shoot  and I'm hoping to use Shawna and Floofie for those shoots.
