On Black with Verronica

 

Verronica and I shot again this past week. She contacted me earlier this year to inquire about shooting again. Of course, I was delighted to arrange it.

 Our last shoot was from last summer when we shot the Goddess theme. This month's weather hasn't been conducive to outdoor shoots, so we had to work in the studio. I decided to revive my On Black theme, using harnesses and camisole dresses to give it a bit of a twist. With Verronica's platinum hair and fair skin, I knew the images would pop.

After the last two studio shoots and the issues I had with my strobes, I totally overhauled and tested all my strobes and triggers by replacing batteries and lamps with fresh ones. And, I brought two spare strobes and fresh batteries with me to the shoot.

Fortunately, everything worked well, and Verronica provided me with her usual professional performance. She seemed to enjoy the shoot, as she was singing along with almost all the songs playing from my set list. She even did a little dancing between costume changes. We both had fun with the session, and that's what matters. 

We finished right on time and Verronica bade me adieu while I remained to set up the studio for my next shoot with Caralynn, one of the new models for this year. More about that shoot later.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of shooting with Verronica Kirei after a five-year delay. We last shot together a few months before the pandemic shutdown. Verronica has helped me with several of my new projects while we were routinely shooting. She has modeled for my Sword & Chains, Military Pinup, Light Painting, and Barefoot Glamour projects and several others. For our first shoot, way back in December of 2011, she modeled for my Xmas Pinup series and has been a reliable model for any project I've requested.

For this latest shoot, I used her for my Goddess project. We shot several variations of the theme. We started in the early morning to beat the heat and to use the morning cloud cover for softer light. We timed it well because we finished our shoot just as the clouds started to part. The heat waves this summer have made early morning shoots a requirement. By late morning the temperatures make it uncomfortable to shoot and the sand on the beach gets almost too hot to bear.

The spot I chose for the shoot had several large driftwood logs and Verronica made use of them for many of her poses. The logs and the many small trees and bushes provided excellent backdrops for the images and when the cloud cover started to break up we had some interesting skies to add to the scene.

I hope to shoot with Verronica again before the end of the year. I'll probably use her for a boudoir shoot or perhaps a Halloween-themed shoot, since that's one of the few projects she hasn't yet modeled. Whichever I choose, I know I'll get some great images with her.

Summer Shooting

Belle - Backyard Boudoir

It's not quite summer (officially) yet, but you can't tell it by the weather here in the Pacific Northwest.  May and June are usually unsettled months with lots of rain and even storms.  This year has been much hotter and drier than normal which has been great for my backyard boudoir project and for my flower garden, but has played havoc with allergies and the lawn. 

The rivers have receded a from their spring high, so I've also been able to shoot at Sauvie and Merrique and I made a trip out to the coast to shoot a genie themed set in the Sand Lake dunes. I've shot with a couple of traveling models, and some new local talent as well. No shoots this week, though, since I need to get some images edited, posted and out to models.  Shooting will slow considerably until the end of July due to other commitments, but I do have some interesting themes and locations planned.

Merrique at Sauvie

Merrique and I have several shoots planned for our joint projects, and I'll have to say that she has been providing me with some interesting challenges. Gamora from Avengers, Dustin from Stranger Things and the Khaleesi from Game of Thrones has been some of the more interesting concepts. Future concepts include Rambo, Bettie Page and the Joker. 

In July, I do have one shoot planned with a model I've been wanting work with for quite some time. Vox Serene and I will be shooting art nudes in the river and the woods at Sauvie.  I'm planning for an early morning shoot, and I'm hoping for some mist on the waters.


As usual, I do a lot of shooting in the summer and save my editing for the cold, wet winter months, but I'll continue posting here since Tumblr is still being stupid about nudity.
