New Model, Fun Studio

In early July, Jade mentioned that soon she would be hosting a traveling model and had recommended me for a shoot. Coincidentally, the model contacted me herself via Model Mayhem. It seemed unlikely we would be able to coordinate a shoot since her visit coincided with my planned roadtrip. The situation changed, however, and she delayed her trip until August, so we planned a shoot while she was here.

I chose to shoot with her in a downtown studio I have previously used for shoots with Jade and Selene. I love the light in the studio, as well as its elegant settings. The model, Gabriella, was eager to shoot, and we started shooting within minutes of entering the studio.

A petite brunette with an adorable face, a well-toned body, and an abundance of cute freckles, Gabriella posed with natural grace. She mentioned that she had been modeling for about three years, and her experience was evident.

We used most of the various settings in the room in combination with the various outfits we used during the shoot. Originally planned for 2 hours, we expanded our time by another half hour to accommodate the final outfits.

Gabriella is an amiable, happy model, and I had fun shooting with her. Shooting with a model for the first time always includes an element of risk, but this time the risk was well worth the results.

The downside of the shoot, though, had me finding another glitch.

During my previously planned shoot that had a no-show, I had my camera prepped with the lens and flash, and sitting beside me in the back of my car while I waited for my wayward model. When I determined, after repeated unanswered texts and a call, that the model had indeed ditched the shoot, I got out of the car, and the camera fell to the ground.

During the shoot, I discovered the lens would no longer lock onto the camera mount. This meant that I had to hold the lens tightly and keep it rotated clockwise on the mount to maintain the electrical contacts between the camera and the lens. I managed to complete the shoot with this process, and when I returned home, I discovered the lens mount was slightly warped. The camera was fine. Multiple lenses attached to the camera with no issue. I will, however, have to send the lens off for repair since the local repair shops can't source the needed parts.
